“Belias Wines” is situated in Melissia, a small and quiet village of Kozani, at 575 metres of altitude. In Vathylakkos, as in the entire region of Macedonia, viniculture has a long tradition. In the previous century it was among the basic cultivations which covered large areas, according to stories told by our grandparents but also by several travelers that have passed from the region.
In 1920 phylloxera (the vine louse) was slowly eradicated from the region’s vineyards only to reappear much later.
Slowly in 2000 we started planting our first vineyard in an area of 8 acres (32,000 m2) gradually reaching 25 acres (100,000 m2) at present, with a perspective to expanding it to 50 acres (200,000 m2) in the years to come.
